Send a takedown notice
If something on OpenMat uses your work without permission, send us a takedown notice. A complete notice has six things:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the copyrighted work you say was copied.
- The OpenMat link to each item you want removed, so we can find it.
- Your name, email and, if you have one, your phone number.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner or the law.
- A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
Send notices through the form on this page.
What happens next
When we get a complete notice, we remove or disable the material and tell the person who posted it. We may share your notice with them, including your name and contact details.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice. Only the person who posted the removed material can send one. It needs:
- Your signature.
- The OpenMat link to the material that was removed.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name and mailing address, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address, and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the notice.
We may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days, unless the person who sent the notice tells us they have filed a court action against you.
Repeat infringers
Accounts with repeated valid copyright notices are closed. See our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
False notices
A notice or counter-notice must be true. If you knowingly misrepresent that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, you can be held liable for the damages that result, including costs and attorneys' fees.
